Pre-qualifying vs. Pre-approval to Buy a Home

 How can I buy a home in San Diego?

There are a number of hurdles one must jump to buy a home or condo or townhome in San Diego.  One of the most important is to not only to have the money to purchase the home but to be able to provide evidence to the seller that you can perform.  The best way to do this is to meet with a loan consultant and determfine if you can be PRE-QUALIFIED  or PRE-APPROVED.

PRE-QUALIFIED is the first step to obtain financing. The potential buyer provides the loan consultant with basic information about his/her financial situation: income, debt, savings and permission to review a credit report. Based upon this information, the loan consultant will let the potential buyer know if he/she is a good candidate to get a loan to buy the house.

PRE-APPROVED is more comprehensive and results in a written document that can be attached to an OFFER TO PURCHASE It means that  a complete application has been completed and reviewd by an underwriter and that the potential buyer is quite serious about his/her offer.
